URA PRN Payments

This section describes the URA PRN Payment process from the GovNet back office and the step-by-step flow of how this is achieved.

Overview

The PRN payment is almost similar to a payout because it also reduces the balance and sometimes a charge might also apply because it depends on where the payment of the PRN is being done.

In some situations depending on who is handling the payment notification, you might find that they actually attach a small charge to it which can also be zero.

So normally when the PRN is generated, it is validated and the actual process is;-

  1. The customer generates the PRN for Payment from the merchant end.

  2. The Merchant then sends a request to GovNet to process the generated PRN for Payment.

  3. The PRN is then validated by GovNet to confirm whether it is still available. So when it’s generated by the customer it's available and usually takes up to 28 days. The validation returns the status of the PRN, the name of the person going to pay, and the amount.

  4. When it's available then we check if the merchant account has sufficient balance (if the PRN value plus the PRN charge can be covered by the merchant account balance?).

  5. If the funds are available, then we proceed by sending it to URA for processing. If funds are not sufficient to cover the PRN value plus the PRN charge, then the process is reversed back to have the account floated and continue after the PRN payment.

  6. We then get notified by URA after completion of the PRN payment. At this point GovNet then notifies the Merchant of debit of funds for PRN payment made.

Note: When a notification is made on the PRN changes status. There are times when it’s Expired & there are times when it’s Paid Or Submitted. Submission is that you already notified URA that you want to pay for it and some process goes on to URA to confirm on their side that this PRN is already Paid for.
