Disbursements/Payouts

The process of sending out funds from the payment gateway system to a third party such as a customer is normally referred to as disbursements commonly known as Payouts.

The Payout Process Flow

For a payout to have a final status, the following steps are undertaken and these are;-

Step 1: The CUSTOMER requests to Withdraw via Web/ App from the merchant end.

Step 2: The MERCHANT then instructs Govnet Gateway to Credit the Customer via the Customer’s preferred Payment method e.g. Bank, Mobile Money, or Card.

Step 3: Then GOVNET sends an API request to the processor for funds Deposit to the customer.

Step 4: The PAYMENT PROCESSOR debits GovNet float account and credits the customer's Mobile Money Account or Bank account. The customer is also notified of the deposit via SMS/Email (Depending on the payment method used). Step 5: Also an API callback response is sent to Govnet Gateway from the Payment processor for Success or Failure. This response confirms the status of the transaction initiated in the earlier process and these statuses could be COMPLETED, FAILED, CANCELED, and PENDING.

Step 6: At the same time an API callback response is sent to the Merchant from the GovNet gateway confirming the debit of funds from the Merchant account(For Success) to the customer.

Note: For every Payout request, in the merchant account wallet currency the requested amount is debited off the current balance so that the next transaction happens affecting the available balance. Therefore for every transaction, the system keeps track of the available balance, so for a payout transaction, in case of failure the transaction is reversed back to the currency account, and balances are adjusted accordingly.
